What is the specified Skilled Worker?

Specified Skilled Worker is a status of residence created to give foreign nationals more opportunities to work in Japan.
There are two types of Specified Skilled Worker status of residence: type (i) and type (ii). The type (ii) status of residence requires more specialized skills than type (i).
Currently, there are 12 sectors in which you can work under the Specified Skilled Worker (i) status, and 11 sectors under the Specified Skilled Worker (ii) status.

How to work under the Specified Skilled Worker status? ABOUT SSW

To work under the Specified Skilled Worker (i) status, you need to pass a Japanese language test and a skills test.
(Those who have successfully completed the Technical Intern Training (ii) program are exempt from these tests. However, if you wish to work in a different field, you must pass the skills test for that specific field.)
After that, you can apply for the Specified Skilled Worker status once you have signed a contract with a company.

QI do not yet meet the qualifications to work under the Specified Skilled Worker status. Can I still participate?
A Yes, you can participate. Any foreign nationals who are interested in working under the Specified Skilled Worker status are welcome to join.
Q I live outside of Japan. Can I still participate in the event?
A If you live outside of Japan, you can only participate in the overseas job fair held online.
Q I am a teacher at a Japanese language school. Can I participate in the event to accompany my students?
A Teachers can accompany and participate as observers in the joint company information session.
Only foreign nationals can participate in the online interview session.
